A Message to my Whiskey Bottle

by Sam Moore

Good evening old friend it is me again

I have come, and she has gone away forever

I come to you on this average night to wash down my sorrows with your sweet blood

that fills me up with glee and warmth, taking my troubles away

to haunt me another day, but not tonight.

Tonight, I put all my trust in you that you will keep me sane.

A cheer to us, as they start to fall, the liquid that tempts me to keep drinking

Down, down, down they go.  Each one easier to put down than the last

You have done your job tonight, thank you

Old friend, I’ll be back soon, I promise.
