diviner
By Haiden DeShong
I oft wonder
what lies inside the molecule of a raindrop
what catches in the maniacal war cry of bulbous thunder
what secrets flash through the shattered lightning bolt that
plays across my vision fading in-out-in-out...
is it a beam caught from heaven
illuminating the only path to the heathen god I once knew
(what is my reverence but a lie?)
how would a rivulet of lightning, purity incarnate
catch upon my finger and flood my veins with electricity,
caught in the razor-eyes of tumultuous knowledge
diviner, my eternal alien, the human mind itself
(I) am fading in and out, night-long
breathing in the galaxy itself
coveting my lowly pride and diffident shame beneath the
catastrophe of millennia; you yourself stand inside me
my image(yours)-- mine, reflected over eternity
fleeting with the pull of dimensions
and the crash of electricity as the breadth of aether
illuminates my diseased heart
what secrets hide inside this portal of incandescent light...
what truths shall I covet tonight?
