I want to start off by saying a big “Thank you” to everyone who submitted to the 2021 Spring issue of Janus. It was truly a hard process of determining the published pieces this year due to all the amazing submissions. The Janus team was looking for new, fresh, inspiring work that challenged what writing should be and work that reflected the diversity that is Westminster College. Needless to say, y’all delivered.

For those whose work we accepted into our magazine, I want to personally send my congratulations! Your work encompassed exactly what we were searching for! And for those of whom we unfortunately could not include this year, keep writing! We would love to see your submissions next year!

I would like to recognize our amazing Janus team for all the hours put into reviewing submissions and creating an issue to be proud of! Y’all are such a great team and I loved working with each and every one of you. Together we have created a literary magazine centered around creative expression and new voices in the writing field - I love it.

For our readers, in total the 2021 issue of Janus features fourteen moving poems, two beautiful prose pieces, and five breathtaking art pieces. Our poems feature topics of love, lust, and self-identification. One prose piece discusses a woman finding power in herself while another spools a creative drama. Our art pieces reflect political views as well as express the beauty in simpler moments.

This year’s copy of Janus really has something for everyone, and I am so excited for our readers to get their hands on the 2021 issue.
